The android phone and the fire stick must be on the same wifi network in order to send the APK to the stick so that's one potential limitation if you don't have a wifi connection. In my case, I used netshare as I like it better than PDANET. You can easily Google the app of your choice to download it's APK in order to send it to the fire stick.
